Media Socialist is a blog about, and a testing ground for, social media online.

That means we're gluttons for blogs, social networks, social bookmarks, wikis, user-generated video, photo-sharing, and everything Web 2.0.

New Possibilities for Virtual Worlds

June 12, 2008 – 3:09 pm by Kyle Welter

Launched this past week through a promotion with Carl’s Jr and Hardee’s, the ExitReality platform has the capability of turning any website into a virtual avatar world. Through a plug-in, one is able to view their own facebook/myspace or anyone else’s page in virtual form. ExitReality imports all images, videos and content from a webpage and integrates them into a virtual room in which the viewer can run around and interact with. Example: your profile photos will be placed in picture frames and your videos can be viewed on your TV. Within this community, you can interact with other people around and even have the chance to view their pages in the same virtual “living space” format.

What gives ExitReality the edge on other avatar worlds is the fact that…

+ It can change any webpage into a virtual world similar to SecondLife, HabboHotel and wildly popular
Gaia Online
+ Users can enter anyone else’s social space, therefore creating a social community and Exit Reality has
already created 3,000 spaces ensuring every user a unique experience
+ Through a partnership with Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s, the site is being promoted not only on Hardee’s
website, but also through an upcoming advertising campaign on Myspace
+ No software to be downloaded, only a driver and no registration fees
