Yarrrgh me networks have joined ship!

September 19, 2008 – 10:52 am by Kyle Welter

On an interesting note…as some of you may know, today is national Talk Like a Pirate Day. To tell you the truth, I had no idea until I hopped onto Google this morning and was delighted to see that they had tastefully edited their “Directory” to a “Direct’ry.”

It turns out that plenty of other sites have hopped on the boat and followed the pirate motif for the day. Facebook’s crowd sourced Translatings app added (pirate) English to their translations options and it is great. “Home” has become “Home Port” and “Friends” have become “Hearties.”

Back in school, this day was one of the most anticipated of the year. Now, I feel like I would have missed this glorious day without these keen additions to my favorite sites.

FriendFeed has hopped ship ship as well and has transformed into an eye-patch wearing FrrriendFeed.

Long Live the Captain.
